Our priorities
For the right to health since 1950
Doctors with Africa CUAMM is the largest Italian organization for the promotion and protection of the health of African populations. A long, arduous, daily journey alongside the poorest, living on the fringes, unseen by most eyes.
These are the two main goals individuated in the Strategic Plan 2008-2015, according also to the Millennium Development Goals:
1 · To improve the accessibility and quality of mother and child services in Africa, to provide direct intervention against the great pandemics (AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria).
In Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda, Doctors with Africa CUAMM runs projects developed in conjunction with local bodies and performed in hospitals and other structures, mainly in rural areas. The projects undertaken are strongly integrated with the healthcare culture and social tissue of the country, through a continuing dialogue with the local public authorities and religious institutions.
Programs implemented in war-torn areas, or where humanitarian emergencies exist, which have only recently become part of the body’s operating environment, aim at the effective co-ordination of projects aimed at providing immediate assistance with longer term programs.

2 · To become an international respected center of knowledge, research, documentation and scientific dissemination on African health.
Doctors with Africa CUAMM works in order to increase its investment in monitoring, evaluation, operational research, documentation and dissemination of knowledge and understanding. CUAMM’s aim is also to build programmatic partnership with other NGOs and International Organizations for integrated programs in the field of health care and education and to influence, through lobbying and strategic alliances, policy decisions on international cooperation, at the level of European Union, the African Union and the Italian government.
