Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first non-governmental organization focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government.

It is now the country’s leading organization working to protect and improve the wellbeing and health of vulnerable communities in Africa.

Values

Doctors with Africa CUAMM works in the spirit of the Gospel and as a non-proﬁt entity to:

advance the process of freedom and growth of all human beings, especially the neediest and the suffering;
advocate the universal right to health and promote the values of international solidarity, justice and peace.

Objectives

Doctors with Africa CUAMM’s principal objective is to improve the health conditions of communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, doing everything in our power to urge the world’s richer countries to transform their relationships with its poorer ones, and promoting a culture of solidarity, peace, justice and cooperation among the world’s peoples.

To achieve this objective in line with our strategic priorities, Doctors with Africa CUAMM:

designs and implements long-term health care cooperation projects with an eye to achieving lasting development, taking a similar approach when dealing with emergency situations;
trains and re-trains health care providers in Italy and Africa;
conducts and disseminates scientific research in the fields of just global development and health, particularly with regard to African countries;
carries out awareness-building and educational activities for the general public;
carries out advocacy and awareness-raising activities aimed at national and international institutions;
promotes socially-responsible philanthropy and investment by individuals and institutions.
