Our work in Mozambique
Started with the arriving of the first doctors in 1978, today the work of Doctors with Africa CUAMM is focused on the training of future doctors in Beira and on the health of mothers and children in several districts of the country.

Since 1978, Doctors with Africa CUAMM has been working in Mozambique, just few years after the independence from Portugal. In a long journey through the country, the organization reached nine of the eleven provinces of Mozambique.

In 2015 Doctors with Africa CUAMM’s work continues at Beira central hospital, at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Catholic University of Mozambique and at 10 health centres of the citizen district of Beira. In Cabo Delgado province, CUAMM intervenes at Palma health centre, starting up surgical activities and providing better services in different wards.

Where we work
- Sofala province, in Beira hospital, where volunteer doctors guarantee health assistance and training activities for the local human resources, supporting partnerships between local public institutions and non profit organizations.
- Cabo Delgado province, in the district of Palma, implementing a programme to strengthen the healthcare system , in order to improve mother and child health and increase the number of assisted deliveries.
