Investing in early childhood means shaping adults who can contribute to their community’s welfare. This is one of the reasons Doctors with Africa CUAMM works to fight chronic and acute malnutrition in Tanzania.
In Tanzania 34.4% of children under 5 years of age suffer from chronic malnutrition (stunting) and SAM (severe acute malnutrition) hits 4.5% of the population.
October was a big month for our work on nutrition, full of both technical meetings and awareness raising events to present what CUAMM is doing to fight malnutrition.

Every year the Uhuru Torch passes through Tanzania, making stops at the country’s newly opened or most excellent health facilities to show appreciation for the good work being carried out there.
Expectant mothers in Tanzania lack access to the conveniences and services that we in wealthier countries tend to take for granted. Some fail to eat properly in the months leading up to delivery, or exhaust themselves with the heavy work they’re obliged to do, unaware of the precautions that ought to be taken during pregnancy.
